This questionnaire provides the basic questions for the description of many of the constructions found in human language. A large number of grammars have been written based on the questionnaire. These constitute excellent models for users of the questionnaire."

    • This general word list was published in D. Pittman's 1948 Practical Linguistics, pages 133-137.  Pittman worked as a "Instructor in missionary linguistics, missionary in Peru" (title page) for SIL, and the book was a manual for carrying out work in missionary linguistics.

    • The questionnaire was developed within the context of a project focusing on "the conceptualisation of temperature in natural languages as reflected in their systems of central temperature terms (hot, cold, to freeze, etc)" funded by the Swedish Scientific Council 2009-2011.
