• " The earliest version of this word list was created by Ecole Française d’Extrême-Orient (EFEO, directed at that time by Georges Cœdès). The EFEO printed this list as a leaflet which was entrusted to civil servants of the colonial administration (Questionnaire linguistique, Hanoi: Imprimerie d'Extrême-Orient, 1938), aiming at extensive coverage of language varieties. The investigation was launched in 1938. Filled leaflets were gradually gathered at EFEO in Hanoi, until the process was interrupted by the war (in 1940).


    • This questionnaire, which was published as an appendix to an article, was designed to elicit gender indexicality in grammar, based on a typological survey of the phenomenon in 41 indigenous South American languages, as well as with the goal of "encouraging and facilitating research on genderlects" (Rose, 2015 : 1).

      Broadly defined, 'gender indexicality' refers to the way speakers give clues about their gender within a speech situation.
      In this article, 'gender idexicality' refers to the gender of the addressee, or both the speaker and the addressee.

    • This verb list is extracted from a volume of word lists edited by Austin Hale. The volume was dedicated to a comparison of the languages of Nepal, and the words are presented in English, Nepali and then in a few minority languages of Nepal (Jirel, Sherpa, Sunwar, Khaling, Newari, Chepang).     • This questionnaire is mainly the result of the author's own fieldwork and can be found as the appendix 2 of Linguistic Fieldwork: A Student Guide, (Jeannette Saket & Daniel L. Everett, 2012).

La thèse a été financée par une Bourse d'Encouragement à la Recherche Universitaire du Gouvernement de la Nouvelle-Calédonie et les terrains d'enquête par les laboratoires de tutelles : Dynamique Du Langage (UMR 5596, CNRS) & LACITO (UMR 7107, CNRS). 


    • The questionnaire is Chapter 2 (pp. 65-73) of the 2010 Studies in Ditransitive Constructions: A Comparative Handbook, edited by Andrej Malchukov, Martin Haspelmath and Bernard Comrie.  It follows an introductory chapter offering a typological overview of ditransitive constructions (pp. 1-64).



    • The questionnaire was developed within the context of a project focusing on "the conceptualisation of temperature in natural languages as reflected in their systems of central temperature terms (hot, cold, to freeze, etc)" funded by the Swedish Scientific Council 2009-2011.
